What's this all about?
I am a recent graduate of Classics with a love of books that explore alternate realities, whether that means ancient mythologies, fantasy universes or mysterious dystopian worlds. I'm especially drawn to books that explore a strong female character or female relationships, especially as many YA books in my favoured genres challenge notions of femininity. I've chosen to read these genres as a form of rebellion against the traditional standards of what is perceived as a 'good book'. Now I have escaped the world of university academia, I don't have to be supercilious about my reading choices and instead intend to enjoy all of the unending and magical possibilities that fantastical, dystopian and YA novels hold.
I'll be writing some reviews, some discussions of certain book themes and hopefully some speculative pieces about fantasy, dystopian and YA novels. There is also the possibility I may stray from my theme now and then because I also love poetry and other types of contemporary fiction!
Thank you for reading!
